About

I am currently a Visual Activist student who studies at the University of Wales Saint Trinity David. My main interest in photography focuses on the queer view point, communicated through portraiture but more specifically in the style of editorial portraiture.

Queer representation within art and photography is extremely important to me. With such rich history and culture, queer lives reinvigorate and revolutionise approaches to fashion, music and language. As someone who is queer, positive and encouraging representation of queer culture is paramount. Communicating this through editorial style portraiture, I aim to showcase and celebrate queer lives in which ever form it presents. With another one of my  main focuses in photography being  the subject of portraiture, more specifically in the style of editorial portraiture. Editorial magazines have always fascinated me as the unique poses and locations create new and innovative ways of conveying emotion. The costumes and fashion items the models wear are always new and different in each issue of an editorial magazine and this gives a form of ever changing diversity in style and choice. I feel that portraiture in the editorial style gives me a lot of creative choice on how I want my images to look and specific emotions and moods I want to convey. In my images, I try to photograph my models in strong and powerful positions as I feel this is something that especially interests me in the editorial sub genre of portraiture. To achieve my overall goal, I photograph my models from low angles to allow the models to fill most of the frame and create a powerful and intimidating mood. Another form of photography that interests me is street photography, I am a Bristol based photographer so I feel that this has helped me develop in my street photography as I live in a very diverse city in terms of culture and architecture. I try to take some street photography when possible however my main focus is portraiture
